An open letter to Jack Louws about the Reconveyance

Hello Jack Louws,

It has been a while since we talked, but this is Riley Sweeney and I just wanted to urge you to support the Reconveyance in its current form. This has been vetted for the last several years, supported by conservatives and liberals, reviewed by state agencies and even approved by the voters – since it was one of the deciding factors in the Larson versus Kremen race last year.

Riley Writes an Open Letter to County Executive Jack Louws

This recent “controversy” over the Reconveyance is whipped up by some of the same conspiracy theorists who believe that Obama is a secret Muslim, that everyone in the planning department is covertly planning to destroy their property values, and that there is an underground movement in Whatcom county to create a One World Government. Frankly, these people aren’t dealing with reality and while they might have raised a few valid concerns, they were addressed ages ago in one of the MANY reviews of this project.

You are reasonable and thoughtful man, that is one of the many reasons why I supported you. You know that 98% of what these people raise is irresponsible blather. Please don’t confuse it with serious opposition. Supporting the Reconveyance will be a powerful positive legacy for this County Council and its Executive, and we shouldn’t let frantic conspiracy theorists and overheated rhetoric stand in the way of a truly decent proposal.
Thank you for listening,
J. Riley Sweeney
P.S. If you want to send an email to the County Executive expressing your thoughts on the Reconveyance, please do so here
