Hello Loyal Readers,
There are a bunch of odds and ends piling up, so here they are.
1) If you haven’t been following the unfolding drama of the Port of Bellingham, here’s the really short version. Charlie Sheldon (really capable Executive Director of the Port) was forced out by Port Commissioner and occasional stealer of candy from children, Scott Walker, with the help of potential doormat Commissioner Jim Jorgensen. This is a very bad thing and has set the Port and the development of our waterfront back at least a year. For a full write-up, click on over to NWCitizen, where they are covering this in depth. Some people might not be a big fan of John Servais’s past work, but set that aside and read this; it’s the best coverage in town of this issue (a close second is Tim Johnson’s work in the Gristle.)
2) I am just wrapping up a whole series of interviews with candidates for the 1st Congressional District. I only have two left to do: Steve Hobbs and John Koster, and I hope to have those locked down in the next couple of weeks. As a result, I will be adding some new tabs at the top of the page so that you can easily click into an ever growing Voter’s Guide, complete with articles about candidates and issues.
