Tales from the Campaign Trail

I’m in Southern Port Orchard and I have this conversation with a 40-something father of two.

Riley: So are there any issues or concerns you want to convey to the congressman?
Voter: (Proceeds to talk about shipyard union contracts for 15 minutes)
Riley: (Takes lots of notes, looks very interested)
Voter: There is one more thing.
Riley: Oh?
Voter: I’ve been hearing alot about this on the radio and then the government went and bought up all that land down there, and you know, Norm’s office always gets back to me whenever I contact them about anything else but this, and I get it, but I just need a straight up or down, yes or no, sort of answer, right?
Riley: (desperately trys to follow that sentence) Sure.
Voter: I just need to know. The Roswell crash. Do we have the Alien technology? Just yes or no. He probably swore on a stack of bibles that he couldn’t say much but I got to know, just yes or no.
Riley: I will convey your question to the congressman. Can we count on your vote this year?
Voter: Absolutely.
